Shuga Henry

/Performing Artist

A native of the beautiful island of Jamaica W.I., Shuga Henry is a well known performing artist, singer, emcee, playwright, and teaching artist. The performing arts have always been a staple in Shuga's life. From childhood, she would write and perform plays and musicals for her friends and family.

 

With a unique eye for creativity, she regularly creates electric, upbeat and inspiring productions. She has performed at the world famous Don't Tell Mama, the Metropolitan Room, the Iguana, theatres, libraries and schools throughout the New York Tri-State area and regionally.

 

Shuga is a classically trained singer and actress who has studied at various institutions including Queens College and  HB Studios.

 

Shuga is a driven and dedicated teaching artist. She teaches musical theatre, writing, film, and drama to children, teens, adults and senior citizens throughout the New York area.

 

She hold monthly performing arts workshop at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL)  and  Joe's Dance and Music Academy in New York.
